Cricketing Icon Mithali Raj Gets Her Own Biopic, Taapsee Pannu To Play Her On The Silver Screen

Though speculations had been going on for some time, it has finally been confirmed that actor Taapsee Pannu will star in the upcoming biopic, Shabaash Mithu. It is based on the life of Indian cricketer and former national captain Mithali Raj and will be directed by Rahul Dholakia. 

Taapsee took to Twitter to wish Mithali on her birthday while promising to ‘give it all’ in her on-screen portrayal. She also added that she was all set to ‘learn THE ‘cover drive’.

The film will focus on how women’s cricket is treated in a nation obsessed with cricket, while focusing on Mithali’s journey. Taapsee was last seen in the biopic Saand Ki Aankh, which is based on the life of the world’s oldest female sharpshooters.
