World happiness levels are apparently at their lowest in almost a decade.

According to a survey published by Gallup, the number of people who say they feel stressed and worried is rising all over the world.

Gallup’s Negative Experience Index, as it is called, went up to 30, from 28 in 2016, and way up from 23 in 2007.

In fact, 2017 was said to be the gloomiest year witnessed by humanity in a decade. Julie Ray, Chief Writer and Editor of the report and survey, told New York Times,

This is the first time that we’ve seen a really significant uptick in negative emotions. It’s as high as we’ve ever measured it.

The Global Positive Experience Index, trended downward for the second year in a row. The rank was 69, slightly lower than 2016’s rank of 70.

There was a list of positive countries too. Paraguay topped this list with residents reporting that they felt well rested and respected.

The results of the study aren’t shocking given the fact that we all feel so depressed and sad.
