An orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Mathew Varghese runs India’s last polio ward at St. Stephen’s Hospital in Delhi. Five years back, India accounted for nearly half of all new wild polio virus cases in the country. And as of today, January 13 th , 2014, the country celebrates three years without a single case. It’s one of the greatest public health achievements of all time. However, the war is not over. Polio has to go from the face of this planet. And for that, our war goes on.
