At An Age When Most Kids Are Playing Monopoly, These Street Kids Set Up Their Own Bank

A GROUP of street kids in India are showing the leaders of the world’s economy how to do it by setting up their bank, known as the Children’s Development Khazana (CDK). Set up and run by homeless children in the Fatehpuri neighbourhood Old Delhi, India, the bank is a place where youngsters – all of whom have to go to school in order to use the facilities – can safely store the small sums they earn from informal jobs. The award-winning scheme is fast helping bring the impoverished into the ‘mainstream’.
