The Next Time You Go To Mumbai, You’ll Be Able To See A Legendary Man From Miles Away. Here’s How

Suparn Pandey

There are a lot of reasons why Mumbai is called the “city of dreams.” And one of the most important reasons is that it is home to India’s very own dream factory, Bollywood. The industry has churned out masala blockbusters and meaningful cinema with equal élan and brought colour and happiness to our dreary lives.

The irony is that one of the greatest legends of Bollywood, widely considered to be the “Father of Indian cinema,” barely finds a mention in the city he loved and the industry he helped revolutionize.

So Asian Paints joined hands with st+art to create an incredible urban tribute to the great man. The canvas? Oh, nothing too big. Just a multi-storied government building in Bandra, which went from just being a “landmark” to a vibrant and colourful urban renewal project. You’ll have to see it to believe it.

The Dadasaheb Phalke project is one of the many murals that Asian Paints and st+art have made as part of the month long street art festival held in Mumbai recently.
