Bollywood is a place where gundagardi is applauded as much as herogiri is. Stalkers become heroes and roadside romeos end up with the heroine.

Come to think of it, Bollywood leads by poor example when it comes to the sensitive topic of portraying violence against women.

This video campaign by Frame Her Right throws light on how screwed up Bollywood’s portrayal of violence against women is and demands a more gender-sensitized cinema that places women in positive rather than exploited and exploitable roles.

However, violence against women didn’t just start with cinema, and therefore, won’t end there. Let’s all do our bit.
