Maa Kali On The Empire State Building Is Giving A Powerful Message To The World

Sriparna

She’s the goddess of time, power, change and destruction. She is fierce and powerful. A central figure in Bengal and medieval Bengali literature, Kali has devotees in India and all over the world.

On Sunday, 1 st August, Kali took over the Empire State Building, New York in the form of a powerful artwork by filmmaker Louie Psihoyos and his team. This installation was part of ‘Projecting Change’, a project that uses Empire State building as a platform to spread awareness regarding global issues.

Kali’s formidable and fierce persona was used to address a major global concern: Ecological consciousness. Her dominant personality brings to focus how fiercely we need to think about conserving, protecting and nurturing mother nature. Apart from Kali, Cecil the lion and other endangered animals were part of the project.
