No One Should Ever Go Through What She Did. Period.

Every now and then you hear a story that jars you out of your pleasant, sheltered life & moves you beyond words. The story of Soni Sori and her nephew Lingaram is one such. Wrongly imprisoned and subjected to torture that made death seem like a better option, this poor woman, a teacher by profession, and her nephew were put through hell by the jailors. Amnesty International’s Campaign to release Soni Sori and Lingaram is perhaps unknown to us but it deserves to reach every single human soul.  Her courage and grit to overcome the gruesome torture she was put through is truly incredible. However, like she says, there are hundreds of others, including women, who are still behind bars subjected to similar torture across Indian jails. It’s up to us to grow a conscience and do something about it.
