Even after almost two decades of being aired on television, advertisements from the 90s refuse to fade away from our memories. They were so catchy and relatable that often times, we used to watch an entire episode of a serial waiting for our favourite TV commercial to appear.
One thing that was common in the 90s commercials was that they celebrated life. The delightful music was a treat to the ears and filled our otherwise mundane days with much-needed doze of energy. Let’s re-visit the advertisements that are close to our hearts:
1. Kisan Jam
This ad showed us the mischievous side of Rahul Dravid and oh! How much we adored him.
2. Milky Bar- Give Me The Power
Remember how these bunch of kids find the Milky Bar in space and get rid of the devil?
3. Complan
This Complan ad featuring Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia is undoubtedly one of the most popular 90s ads. Look how adorable the duo looks!
4. Raymond- The Complete Man
How these kids give a heartfelt farewell to their teacher still gives me all the feels!
5. Pepsi featuring our favourite, Sachin Tendulkar
If there is something that has remained constant over the years, it is our beloved Sachin. The excitement on the faces of these Sachin fans in this old Pepsi ad is oh-so-infectious!
6. Suzuki Samurai- No Problem
This was one catchy advertisement that ensured that the Japanese bike became a hot seller.
7. Nerolac paints
The jingle ‘jab ghar ki raunak badhani ho, deewaron ko jab sajaana ho..’ still rings in my head as I write this.
8. Tan ki shakti man ki shakti – Bournvita
This was definitely a revolutionary one. It made people like me who hated milk, drink it!
9. Onida TV
There still hasn’t been a cooler brand ambassador for a television ad than this devil.
10. Band Aid
This kid facing a dilemma to put a band aid was an interesting tussle. Also, everyone loved Tejan Diwanji and his bright smile!
11. Amul- The taste of India
One of my all-time favourites, this advertisement not just gave us a sense of belonging, but also introduced us with the other delicacies that Amul had to offer.
12. Liril
Whoever says that they did not sing laa..laa la laaaa in the bathroom while taking a shower is a liar. Preity Zinta and the catchy jingle worked like magic!
13. Action Shoes
Tejan Diwanji again. Such a cutie!
14. Dairy Milk
The way this bride unwraps a Dairy Milk always made me feel like giving her a helping hand.
15. Dairy Milk – Kuch khaas hai hum sabhi mein
No other advertisement can be as striking as this one. The sheer joy that reflects on each one of their faces is infectious. Such a master piece!
16. Vico Turmeric
This ad made sure that we knew that Vico Turmeric is not a cosmetic cream. So catchy!
17. Fevi Kwik
The funny fisherman and the priceless expressions on the bald man’s face – priceless!
18. Uncle Chips
Bole mere lips, I love Uncle Chips! Need I say more?
19. Ujala
Remember the catchy jingle and the sound of four drops?
20. Dhara Oil
Parzaan Dastur became our favourite kid post this jalebi ad.
21. Sundrop oil
This advertisement played with our little minds with all those mountain sized sweets and dishes and the somersaulting kid!
22. Classic toothbrush
A toothbrush never looked this fascinating!
23. Nirma
Nirma taught us that spotless white clothes are not that difficult to achieve.
24. Nescafe
Pa pa ra pa pa ra pa! This was one of the coolest ads around with the coolest song ever that made the coffee look so invigorating!
