Adidas Launched Their PureBOOST Shoes With An Offbeat Street Run & Mumbaikars Totally Aced It

The city is endless. It can weigh you down and box you in. To see the unseen, one would have to go below the surface; see the city for what it really is. When we break the pattern on the run, it takes us places we never would’ve paid heed to. It is time to escape the grid.

Ask an avid runner and they’ll tell you that the right pair of running shoes are more than just kicks. They become like an extension of the body, help push its limits, and most importantly… take it further than you ever thought it could go. So when a key player in the running shoe market like adidas came up with a pair designed for street running and urbanscapes, you know that running enthusiasts from across the board would get all psyched up! And, to introduce #PureBOOST to the country, adidas organised an innovative street run.

What made this street run innovative apart from the fact that it took place at night, was that it featured three squads of pro-runners from Mumbai led by three famous faces who love to run – Karan Wahi, Luke Kenny & Karan Medappa.

Yes, boys and girls, this was not a half-marathon or your everyday 4 laps in the park kind of a run. This was an authentic street run experience, wherein the participants hit downtown Bandra with no pre-defined routes; just a general sense of direction alluded by markers. Over a distance of 10 odd kilometres, the runners tested themselves and their new shoes as they jumped over, wove through and side-stepped their way to discovering Mumbai in a whole new way – in the dead of the night.

And to add to the experience, there were plenty of fun activities for them to indulge in, en route, like light paintings and photo and slo-mo video booths. This one-of-a-kind event finally concluded in the iconic amphitheatre on Carter Road.

Oh, how I wish I was there!
