As people around the world were gearing up on New Year’s Eve to welcome 2016, 31-year-old Matthew DeRemer from California was unknowingly bidding his final adieu to the world. DeRemer, a U.S. Marine veteran, wrote an inspiring Facebook post on 31st December, 2015, before heading out on his bike. He shared his thoughts about the year that went by, and how he was hopeful about the coming year. The last line of his post read:
“I really don’t know where I’ll end up tonight but I do know where I wind up is where I’m meant to be.”
Little did DeRemer know that he had pretty much summed up the spirit of life in those words, and that it was going to be his last interaction with the world, which would inspire so many lives after he’s gone.
On New Year’s Eve, Matthew DeRemer died after his bike collided with a truck, whose driver was under the influence of alcohol. Making his post even more touching was a photo that he had added:

When people came to know about DeRemer’s demise, who died just days after his 31st birthday, condolences started flooding his post. One of the comments read:
“You basically wrote your own obituary. RIP and godspeed.”
Matthews message is just another reminder to live every moment fully because you never know what’ll happen next.
