This Lingerie Brand Ft Real Women Is A Refreshing Change From The Photoshopped Models We See In Ads

Shalin Jacob

The glammed up women we see in our advertisements, including TV ads and on the front page of fashion magazines, are part of an industry that thrives on Photoshop and airbrushing. But somehow, this notion becomes the gospel truth for many. Young girls look at these photoshopped images and often look up to the perfect bodies, going to any lengths to become more like them and less like their own selves.

On one hand we talk about body-shaming and body positivity, on the other, photographers still retouch images of women to make them look ‘picture perfect’. Times are changing and so are our women. They no longer want their photos to be retouched or their flaws to be covered.

And the Lonely Girls is a photo project that embodies this very thought. It features real women in their most intimate selves, also featuring actors Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke.

Here are some of the photos from the project:

What a beautiful and real project! It’s time we celebrate and embrace our bodies just as they are.
