India is not famous for traffic discipline, and despite various measures by the police and the government alike, people tend to indulge in lawless activities. Activities such as underage driving, an act that puts the driver, passenger and fellow drivers at risk.
And in the case of minors driving cars, the fault lies as much with the child, as it lies with the parents. This is why Hyderabad police has come with an ingenious way to prevent minors from driving cars – putting their parents in jail.
Thus, if any underage driver is caught, the police will put the parents of the child in jail for 1 day. According to a report by Times of India, in February itself, 45 parents were made to serve a day in prison for underage driving of their children.
Underage driving is a major cause of concern, and hopefully such measure will work towards curbing such reckless behavior.
