“It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.” – Vince Lombardi

When it comes to sports, getting knocked down has a literal as well as a metaphorical meaning attached to it. In a country like India, becoming a sportsperson is a painstaking task and it isn’t only about following your passion; the real struggle begins after you take the first step. One needs to have an exceptional level of fitness, both mental and physical while making efforts to overcoming social prejudice. For Annu Rani, India’s ace Javelin Thrower, it wasn’t a smooth sailing either.

Hailing from a small village in Uttar Pradesh, Annu travelled 13 KMs daily to train with a makeshift bamboo stick. Her unbending dedication has helped her in keeping a firm grip on her dreams. With four national records in her name, she now strives to be a World Champion and a gold medalist at the upcoming Olympic Games. Unfortunately, despite being a global sport, Javelin throw still fails to grab people’s attention in India. Furo Sports believes it’s high time that promising athletes like Annu get the recognition and the respect they deserve.

Furo has perfectly captured Annu’s inspiring journey in this video. Watch it and tell us what you think.
