Turns Out, Virat & Deepika Are Ruling Instagram, As Per The App’s India Awards

Recognising an increasing user base in India as well as a huge fan base that celebrities enjoy on Instagram, the photo-sharing app announced its first-ever awards in India.

With 19.8 million followers on Instagram, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli bagged the title of the “Most engaged account.” The award for “Most followed account” went to Deepika Padukone with 22.4 million followers beating Priyanka Chopra who narrowly missed it with 22.1 million followers. Alia Bhatt trailed in 3rd position with 20.9 million followers.

Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor were also presented with a milestone plaque for over 20 million followers.

Reacting to the award, Deepika Padukone said:

Staying connected with my fans and loved ones is extremely important to me! I value the love, support & connection I share with them and I hope I continue to remain true & authentic!

Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar, who’s going to make his Bollywood debut with Beyond The Clouds alongside actress Malavika Mohanan, won India’s “Emerging Account” for his growing fan base on Instagram.
