Watching How Coke Studio Made Music Come Alive For The Deaf Makes Us Believe In The Power Of Music

Raj Das

Thanks to sign language, deaf people all over the world now have an option to avail all sorts of opportunities out there. Education, career, socializing, travel – everything non-deaf people enjoy, deaf people can do it too. Everything but music.

They say music is food for the soul, but it’s hardly a great saying when you realize that there are about 70 million deaf people in the world. So, Coke Studio, the pioneering music show from Pakistan decided to do something about it, in partnership with Deaf Reach. The producers got together a team of people to set up a set that was equipped with making the optimum use of light and vibration – two things deaf people can easily feel.

See how it turned out.
