A class 4 student of GD Goenka School in Indirapuram allegedly fell to his death after slipping on the school’s second-floor corridor on Tuesday morning, reported Hindustan Times.

The boy was later rushed to Shanti Gopal Hospital in Ghaziabad where he was declared brought dead. It is suspected that the boy suffered severe head injuries.

The boy was to appear for a weekly test when the incident occurred. According to reports he has kept his bag in his classroom and was only carrying his pencil box to the other class where the test was scheduled when on his way he allegedly slipped. His parents, however have accused school authorities for carelessness.

“We were informed of the incident late by school authorities. All his clothes were wet and I not only doubt, but I am certain at this point that there was a presence of water on the floor. The school is trying to hide this point. They are saying that the boy’s clothes were wet due to urine discharge. Even the class teacher, in whose presence the incident took place, was brought before us later and only after repeated requests,” the boy’s mother was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

According to Indian Express, an FIR based on a complain by the boy’s father has been registered against the School’s principal and management.

“His father, a resident of Vaishali in Ghaziabad, has accused the principal and management for the death of his son in the corridor, negligence on part of the school, and destruction of evidence. An FIR under IPC sections 304 (causing death by negligence) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) has been registered,” Akash Tomar, SP City, Ghaziabad was quoted as saying in the report.

The School officials have however, denied that the floor was wet.

“What has happened is extremely unfortunate. He was walking to the other classroom when he fell down. He was rushed to a hospital but he could not survive. There was no water in the corridor, staircase or around the area. We are going to extend our full cooperation and support to the child’s family and the police in their investigation,” said school principal Kavita Sharma to Indian Express
