14 Members Of The Same Family Killed In Arunachal Landslide, CM Khandu Offers Aid

On Wednesday, bodies of 14 people of a family, including four minors, who were buried in a massive landslide in Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district following incessant rains, were recovered.

After the calamity, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu visited the landslide-hit area to take stock of the ground situation, the North East Today reported.

Offering his “deep condolences’ for the victims, the CM said it is a moment of great sadness that 14 members from a single family have lost their lives in the tragic incident.

At an event that was held later, the CM handed over Rs 10 lakh on behalf of the state government to the victims’ next of kin and also donated Rs 30 lakhs from his personal means as immediate assistance to the victim family. 

He also promised all possible help to the relatives of the victim family,

The North East Today quoted Khandu saying, “Human loss is a big loss, which can never be compensated, though material loss could be recovered.”
