18 Patients Die In Chennai Hospital ICU, Power Failure Suspected To Be Cause

In what might be one of the worst worst consequences of the floods in Chennai, 18 ICU patients died at the MIOT(Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology) hospital in Chennai on Friday morning.

According to a report by The Indian Express , the condition of the patients was “highly critical” and they died because of power failure.

The report also says that patients were on ventilators when they passed away early in the morning. The bodies have been shifted to a government hospital.

The continuous downpour over the past couple of days has claimed 269 deaths in Tamil Nadu till Friday, as per official records.
