Two entrepreneurs, detained for creating ruckus in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at a start up meet in Patana, have alleged that they were “treated as criminals and not entrepreneurs” by the police.

The police, however, denied the allegation and said that they were released after normal questioning.

The two entrepreneurs, who were frequently speaking without the chief minister’s permission at the programme held last Tuesday, were detained by the Patna police and questioned at Gandhi Maidan police station for a personal background check.

The two persons today appeared before the media and alleged that the police kept them at Gandhi Maidan police station for over seven hours and did not allow them to have food or tea.

The duo, who identified themselves as Nemi Kumar and Suresh Kumar Sharma, complained that they were “treated like criminals and not entrepreneurs” during their detention.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said that he had got the matter inquired by Probationer Additional Superintendent of Police, Yogendra Kumar, who said there was no case of torture of the two.

“Still if the entrepreneurs have any complaint against the police I will look into it,” the SSP said.

The two were released after normal questioning, the SSP said.

When the reaction of state industries minister Jai Kumar Singh was sought on the matter, he told reporters that he was not aware of police action.
