The Modi Sarkar 2.0 has inducted 58 ministers in the cabinet, and 22 of the 58 ministers have declared criminal cases against them, while 51 of the 58 are crorepatis.
Reportedly, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch analyzed the self-sworn affidavits of 56 ministers from the 17th Lok Sabha and the current Rajya Sabha.
As per the analysis, 16 ministers have serious criminal cases against them, which include charges like attempt to murder, communal disharmony, electoral violations, and others.
Among these ministers, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Babul Supriyo, Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai, Amit Shah, and Pralhad Joshi have cases of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language.
Furthermore, NDTV shared that in comparison to the 16th Lok Sabha, there has been a rise in the percentage of the cabinet with criminal records. The count of ministers with serious criminal cases has increased by 12 percentage points.
Additionally, 91% (51) ministers are crorepatis, with assets worth ₹14.72 crore, on average.
Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal is the richest person in the cabinet with assets worth ₹217 crore. Only 5 of the 58 ministers have declared assets less than ₹1 crore.
Ram Vilas Paswan and S Jaishankar are the only ministers not analyzed, as currently, they are not members of the Parliament.
