While there are some people who make a lot of attempts to graduate, Laurent Simons, a 9-year-old boy from Belgium is on his course to gain a bachelor’s degree.

The Telegraph

According to CNN, Simons is studying electrical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology and is expected to finish his degree by December this year.

If this wasn’t enough to surprise you, he plans to embark on a PhD program in electrical engineering while also studying for a medicine degree.

Simons parent’s, Alexander Simons and Lydia, said that they thought Laurent’s grandparents were exaggerating when they said that he had some kind of special gift, but his teachers soon proved them right.

Laurent does come from a family of doctors but his parents haven’t got any explanation as to why their child prodigy is capable of learning so quickly.

In an statement, Sjoerd Hulshof, education director of the TUE bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering said,

Special students that have good reasons for doing so can arrange an adjusted schedule. In much the same way we help students who participate in top sport.

While the little boy is evidently able to learn much faster than most kids, his parents are being careful to let him enjoy himself too.

Laurent said that he loves his dog, Sammy, and enjoys playing with him, like many young people. However, unlike most 9-year-old kids, he has already figured out that he wants to develop artificial organs in future.
