After the successful launch of Chadrayaan-2, ISRO plans on launching its solar mission, Aditya-L1, by the first half of 2020, according to reports.
Aditya-L1 will be sent to observe the outer layer of the Sun, known as the corona.
While sharing information about the mission on their official website, ISRO stated, “How the corona gets heated to such high temperatures is still an unanswered question in solar physics.”
In a press conference, K. Sivan, Chairperson, ISRO, said, “It is 1.5 million kilometers from the Earth. It will always look at the Sun and give an analysis of the corona because it has a major impact on climate change.”
As per reports, Aditya-L1 will provide observations of the Sun’s photoshpere, chromoshpere and corona. It will also study the particle flux emanating from the Sun.
Mr. Sivan further added that another interplanetary mission to Venus will be launched with in the next 2-3 years.
