After SC Stays Order Lifting Ban On Jallikattu, Twitterati Demand Ban On Bakri Eid Too

Soon after the Supreme Court stayed the government order lifting ban on Jallikattu, Twitter was full of angry reactions, with many thrashing the move and openly supporting the controversial bull-taming sport in Tamil Nadu.

The stay means that the 2014 SC judgment banning jallikattu will continue to prevail, so the sport won’t be played during Pongal starting on January 15.

The hashtag #WeNeedJallikattu starting trending, and comparisons with similar religious festivals involving animals began to be drawn – most common being Bakri-Eid.
