In Pictures: Countrywide Agitation Against Suspension Of Congress MPs

Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan suspended 25 Congress MPs on August 3, for ‘persistently, wilfully obstructing’ the House by displaying placards and shouting slogans. This is a first such major action in the present Lok Sabha, against the members.

But Congress members across the country took to the streets protesting strongly against the suspension along with party president Sonia Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi who termed it as ‘black day of democracy’.

These pictures which are not only of Delhi but also from cities like Kolkata and Srinagar, reflect the anguish among party workers protesting against the suspension.

Amidst protests, the rest of the Congress MPs in Lok Sabha should aim at involving in productive debates on major issues including discussion on pending bills rather than repeating anything which might further add to their woes.
