Comedy Group AIB Roasted For Making Meme On PM Modi, Faces Outrage On Twitter

The comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB), which had last year found itself at the center of a controversy for its promoter Tanmay Bhat’s “roast” on cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and singer Lata Mangeshkar, may have just landed in trouble again by making a meme on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reports The Times of India.

The comedy group, known for its provocative humour deleted the post after being roasted on Twitter. The group’s Facebook page posted a photo of a Modi lookalike with a Snapchat dog filter and captioned it ‘Wanderlust.’

The AIB post did not go down well with a number of Twitter users, who reported it to the Mumbai Police, who were quick to respond.

The Mumbai Police tweeted that the post would be forwarded to the cyber cell for investigation, reports NDTV. Deputy Commissioner of Police (cyber) Akbar Pathan said they were verifying the matter and collecting more information.

The AIB has taken down their post. But their move drew flak from several quarters and the AIB members have been expressing their frustration online.

This is how Twitter reacted:

This did not go down well with AIB co-founders Tanmay Bhat and Rohan Joshi who hit back at the trolls.

Bhatt also made a sly reference to an old tweet by Prime Minister Modi where he said humour is very important and vowed to continue making jokes, reports Network 18.
