Amit Panghal Scripts History By Becoming The First Indian Boxer To Enter World Championship Final

In a historic win for India, Amit Panghal defeated Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibissonov to become the first Indian boxer to reach the final of World Championships in the 52 kg category.

Amit Panghal will now face the Rio Olympic champion Shakhobidin Zoirov, from Uzbekistan, in the final match.

However, Manish Kaushik, who fought in the 63 kg category semi-final, lost to reigning world champion Andy Cruz Gomez of Cuba and had to settle for bronze.

Both Kaushik and Panghal had already scripted history when they advanced for the semi-finals round, as India had never had two semi-finalists at the World Championships in the past.

At 23, Amit Panghal has already won a Gold at the 2018 Asian Games, and bronze at the 2017 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships. People took to Twitter to congratulate the young boxer on his crucual win:
