Following the crash of the Indian Air Force aircraft in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam, airports in Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar and Leh, that are close to the Pakistan border have been declared shut for 3 months.
According to NDTV, the aircraft crash took place in the backdrop of heavy shelling and firing from across the border. The region has since been put on high alert and warnings of retaliation after Indian jets crossed the LoC and destroyed a terror camp in Pakistan.
NDTV reported that Pakistani fighter jets have been violating the Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri sectors.
Meanwhile, Air Vistara has informed its travellers that flights to and from Amritsar, Srinagar, Chandigarh and Jammu have been on hold due to the airspace restrictions.
The situation is tense and people have been advised to take extreme precautions in these regions.
