Google on Wednesday introduced a new feature for Android users to share money through Gmail app.
Users of the Gmail app on Android will now be able to send or request money with anyone, including those who don’t have a Gmail address, with just a tap.
As of now, the money exchange feature is available only in the U.S. on web and Android.
In a blog post, Google says, ”Whether you’re splitting a dinner bill or planning a group trip, you now have a fee-free way to work out the details and settle up without ever leaving the Gmail app on Android, just like you can already do on the web. Plus, you can exchange money with anyone—not just people with Gmail addresses”.
Here’s how to get started:
- Compose a new mail, enter the recipient’s email id or contact
- A new option “send money” will appear once you tap the attachment icon at the top right corner.
- Then choose either send or request money
- A pop-up window appears where you can input the amount and send
- The amount will be transferred through the ‘Google Wallet’ amount of the user.
