Art of living has agreed to pay an amount of Rs 25 lakh by today and the rest amount of Rs 4.75 crore in a period of three weeks.

An interim compensation of Rs 5 crore was ordered by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living for the damage cause to the Yamuna floodplains due to the World Culture Festival.

On Friday, the organisation moved an application asking for four weeks time to deposit the amount and to comply with all tribunal directions.

The plea said AOL is a charitable organisation and it was difficult for it to generate Rs 5 crore in a short period. AOL requested the NGT Rs 5 crore fine be taken as restoration amount for biodiversity park and not as penalty.
