Rape Accused Asaram Bapu Shown Among Great Saints In Rajasthan School Books

Asaram bapu, known widely as a saint, has been in a jail accused of rape , in Jodhpur since September 2013. We got interested when we noticed Jodhpur had beeen trending on Twitter. Apparently Asaram features in a school book among Desk ke prasiddh neta or ‘Country’s Famous Saints’ header.

Interestingly, and appalingly, the self-styled godman Asaram finds himself among the company of Buddha, Mother Teresa, Swami Vivekananda and Guru Nanak.

Kirpal Singh, an employee of a transport firm whose owner’s daughter had lodged a case against 74-year-old Asaram for allegedly sexually assaulting her at his ashram near Jodhpur in Rajasthan in 2013, was attacked recently.

A few days ago, another picture of an NCERT book had surfaced showing Sonia Gandhi, George Bush, Pervez Musharraf and Atal Behari Vajpayee among ‘Great Leaders’ of the world along with Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela.

If this is the state of affairs with India’s education, what is the HRD Ministry upto? Madam Irani, care to answer?
