An avalanche hit the Mount Everest, claiming 18 lives and leaving minimum 61 injured. It was triggered by an earthquake, measuring 7.9 magnitude on Saturday, April 25, leaving 3218 dead (death toll at April 27, 11:35 am) and thousands injured in Nepal.

The footage uploaded by German mountaineer Jost Kobusch , captured the very moment when the climbers realised that the land was shaking. The avalanche never gave them time to get prepared and snow covered the base camp tents within few seconds. The kitchen tent at the base camp was completely destroyed. Reportedly, 1,000 climbers were present at base camp when the avalanche hit it.
