AYUSH Minister Says RTI Response On Not Hiring Muslims Is False, Promises Probe

It came as a shock when in a response to an RTI query, the Ministry of AYUSH reportedly said that it didn’t hire Muslims as trainers for World Yoga Day ‘as per government policy’.

Now after a day The Milli Gazette published the report, Sripad Naik, the minister in charge of the ministry has come forward and has rejected these reports.

Naik has termed such reports doing the rounds as false, saying it was just an attempt to defame them and has further assured of a probe into the whole incident.

The RTI application was filed by journalist Pushp Sharma, who sought to know, how many applied for the short-term assignment abroad for the World Yoga Day.

The online version of the Milli Gazette report also carried images of the RTI replies but the authenticity of the documents haven’t still been verified.

Meanwhile Milli Gazette editor Zafarul Islam Khan told The Huffington Post that the “minister is lying”.

“The documents are 100% genuine. And there is an entire series of correspondence that we will publish online today. It is only after we sent a lot of questions that they were forced to reveal this, they did not give this information so easily,” he said.
