Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan while condemning the Paris attacks on Friday has reportedly said that global superpowers must realize that the terror attack was a ‘reaction’ to their actions in Syria and Iraq.

According to a report in Times of India , Khan said the root cause of the recent global crisis was the economic interest of the US and its allies in West Asia. He said that European cities “cannot be lit up with the ill-gotten wealth from the oil reserves of Middle East.”

Speaking about the US and its allies, Khan said the killing of innocent people anywhere is a deplorable act and should be condemned. But he said that if somebody is responsible for creating such a situation, then they have to be prepared to face its consequences.

The BJP lashed out at Azam Khan for his remarks and demanded that Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav take action against him.

“Azam Khan’s reaction is most unwanted and condemnable because it puts India in a bad light. It puts India’s fight against terror in a bad light and therefore it weakens India’s resolve against terrorism,” BJP spokesperson Siddharthnath Singh told ANI.
