Bangladesh Cricket Team Escapes Unhurt In NZ Mosque Shooting, Third Test Against Kiwis Cancelled

The Bangladesh cricket team, which is touring New Zealand for a series, escaped unhurt in the mosque shooting incident that claimed 40 lives, reports The Guardian.

Going to to offer Friday prayer in the mosque, the team was about to get down from the bus when they saw people coming out wounded.

Panicked, they decided to stay inside for 10 minutes after which they ran through Hagley Park reached Hagley Oval where they were supposed to play the third Test.

Once all the team members were back in the hotel, the performance analyst confirmed that the team ‘escaped active shooters’.

According to a report from Washington Post, a spokesperson for the team told AFP:

Later, Bangladesh players Tamim Iqbal Khan and Mushfiqur Rahim tweeted about the incident.

Keeping in mind the seriousness of the issue, the third Test between the two nations has been cancelled. The series stands 2-0 in the favour of New Zealand, as of now.
