Bengaluru Pre-University Colleges Are Setting Higher Cut-Off Just For Girls To Ensure ‘Gender Balance’

In a highly debatable move, some pre-university colleges in Bengaluru set higher cut-off for girls citing ‘gender balance’ as the reason.  

The Vice-Chancellor of Christ PU College – Fr Abraham VM – commented on the matter and told Times of India:

The cut-off for science stream in Christ college is 93.92 percent for girls and 91.04 percent for boys – a substantial difference of 2.88 percent.

The admission season has already been stressful for students with those with even 85 per cent of marks failing to get into good colleges.
