BJP Delhi Chief To Stay In Slums To Woo Voters Ahead Of Municipal Elections

BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari will be staying in slums to garner support of the growing Poorvanchal community, particularly keeping in mind the municipal elections scheduled for 2017. The campaign will include slums in Shastri Park, Mandoli and other unauthorised localities in northeast Delhi. reports the Times of India.

BJP currently controls the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) but in the by-polls held in May for 13 MCD seats, the AAP bagged five, the Congress took four and the BJP won three seats.

During the ‘Reality Check Campaign’, that will last 10 days starting January, Tiwari will be interacting with the Poorvanchali population residing in slums and unauthorised colonies to find out about their expectations of the party.

Tiwari, the MP from Delhi’s north-east constituency, will also be seen dining with voters and singing for their kids to learn about their problems and aspirations.

Tiwari told the newspaper that although he has been briefed about the voters’ expectations, there is no substitute for first-hand interaction.

Tiwari recently replaced Satish Upadhayay to become BJP’s new Delhi-unit chief. The Bhojpuri actor has a huge fan following among migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
