Botswana Just Lifted Its Elephant Hunting Ban In Order To ‘Help Their Farmers’

Sumedha Tripathi

It is a terrible day for animal lovers as Africa’s Botswana government just lifted the ban on elephant hunting that was put in place in 2014.

Botswana being the home for Africa’s largest Elephant population lifted the ban due to the increase in their population. They, after entering farms destruct the farmland tremendously affecting the farmers and their crops.

According to reports, the elephant population has almost tripled over the last 30 years, and that the population could now be more than 160,000 in Botswana.

Even though Botswana has the highest elephant population, conversationalists are outraged. The population has fallen by about 111,000 to 415,000, largely due to poaching for ivory in the past decade.

But according to a survey, the elephants have been migrating to farther places due to factors like climate change.

With a rapid growing extinction of animals around the globe, lifting hunting ban on animals is a horrifying move and people agree!
