On June 5, a two-and a half-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped by three women from outside the Jama Masjid, New Delhi, when his parents were preparing for a prayer.

The three women allegedly wanted to sell the child and took him across six different locations in the city, before finally putting the child on sale on whatsapp with a price tag of Rs 1.8 lakh.

The picture came to police’s notice after a Whatsapp user alerted them about it. The police carried out a probe and traced the culprits as the three women.

Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (Central) told The Times of India, “We had received a complaint about the missing child and had registered a case of kidnapping…A team led by SHO Jama Masjid Anil Kumar was formed to track him down. When we received a tip-off from the informer, raids were conducted and the gang nabbed.”
