BSNL Free For A Week, Others Give Talktime: How Phone Companies Are Helping Chennai Residents

Taking a cue from the good samaritans who offered to recharge phone accounts of those in need, some telecom operators and mobile applications have announced that they will be providing concessions on talktime to the people of Chennai.

Indian state-owned telecom service provider BSNL will not charge callers in the city for the next week, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Wednesday .

Private telecom operator Airtel and Vodafone have also announced some measures that includes free talktime.

Some companies also announced that they would be providing free recharges for the next few days.
