Lt Umar Fayaz Returns Home In Kashmir To Attend Wedding, Brutally Killed By Militants

An army officer was on Wednesday found killed in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police sources said, as per a PTI report.

The body of the Lieutenant rank officer was found with bullet wounds in Hermain area of the district, they said.

Police said that the officer, hailing from neighboring Kulgam district, had gone to Shopian to attend the marriage function of a relative.

“In a dastardly act, some unidentified terrorists yesterday abducted and then killed a young Army officer, Lt Umer Fayaz,” an army official said. 

An army official in Srinagar said that they have received an input and are verifying the circumstances in which the officer was found dead.

A Hindustan Times report says Fayaz had been missing since Tuesday night and police suspects he was abducted by militants.

An Indian Express report says he was indeed how dead by militants.
