CBI Arrests Chief Of Homeopathy Central Council In A Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) president Ramjee Singh and suspected middleman Harishankar Jha in an alleged bribery case of Rs 20 lakh for granting clearance to a homoeopathy college in Gujarat.

CBI sources said they had received information that a homoeopathy college was being set up in Gujarat for which clearance was needed from CCH, which is a statutory body under the central government.

They said Jha, who was allegedly working as middleman for Dr Singh, demanded Rs 20 lakh for clearance.

Jha, who runs a hotel in Mahipalpur, was caught while taking the bribe through hawala channels.

During interrogation, Jha spilled the beans and revealed that the bribe was meant for Dr Singh who was also arrested by the agency, they said

Both the accused have been produced before the special CBI court at Patiala House in Delhi.
