Delhi Gets Its 2nd Airport As Ghaziabad’s Hindon Air Force Station Opens For Flights To 8 Cities

Hindon Airport, jointly owned by the Indian Air Force and the Airports Authority of India, now has a ‘civil enclave’ from where people will be able to board flights for 8 towns and cities across the country.

This is a happy news for people who frequently take flights to cities – Hubli, Jamnagar, Shimla, Kalburgi, Kannur, Nashik, Faizabad, Pithoragarh – and had to stand in queues at the crowded Indira Gandhi International Airport.

What’s better, the services will be subsidised as they are provided under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme of the government that aims at making air travel cheaper for the citizens. 

Under the scheme, the government waves taxes on fuel and other airport charges besides providing them with further more financial assistance.

As of now, 4 airlines will be flying from the airport and they are IndiGo, Heritage Aviation, Ghodawat Airlines and Turbo Aviation.

Made with 40 crores, the enclave will be able to handle 300 passengers at peak hours and has parking space for 90 cars. 

While the airport has already been inaugurated, the services are expected to start from May 15 this year.
