Delhi Gets A Second Airport At Hindon, Flights Begin Operation From Today

Delhi’s wait for the second airport is finally over as Hindon Airport will begin its operations starting today. The first flight to fly from this airport will be the 9-seater aircraft by Heritage Aviation, which will take off for Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

According to News18, Rohit Mathur, the CEO of Heritage Aviation said that after the first flight, the company is planning to launch flights to other popular tourist destinations including Shimla, Hubli and Dehradun.

ANI quoted Mathur saying,

A 9-seater plane will take off from Pithoragarh to Hindon at 11:30 am, and it will leave for Pithoragarh from Hindon at 1 pm. Thursday will be an off day. After Pithoragarh, we are also trying to start operations on Shimla route.

District Collector Ajay Shankar Pandey told ANI that all the arrangements for the security of the airport have been made. Adding to it, he said, 55 policemen who received special training have been deployed at the airport.

Hindon Airport, located close to Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, will help in reducing some of the load at Delhi’s IGI airport. The new airport belongs to the Indian Air Force and Airport Authority of India has built a civil enclave inside it. The IAF has given permission to use the airbase for civilian flights under the UDAN scheme.
