Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma Appointed As New CBI Chief

Delhi Police commissioner Alok Kumar Verma, has been appointed the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday, ANI reported.

A panel headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected Verma as the CBI chief. 

Verma is a 1979 batch Indian Police Service officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre and has been the Delhi Police chief for the last 11 months.

The post of CBI director had been vacant for over a month since Anil Sinha’s retirement on 2 December and Verma was one of the front runners for the post.
