Donald Trump’s controversial statements have landed him in yet another soup. According to Axios, he suggested dropping nuclear bombs on hurricanes as a means to stop them from hitting the United States.

During a hurricane briefing at the White House, Trump reportedly asked if it would be possible to disrupt hurricanes forming off the coast of Africa by dropping a nuclear bomb in the eye of the storm. His exact words apparently were,

Why don’t we nuke them? They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they’re moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can’t we do that?

Those attending the meeting were apparently shocked, and claimed they would look into it. However, this actually isn’t the first time Trump has suggested nuking hurricanes. He asked the same question back in 2017.

Scientists unanimously agree that bombing a hurricane is not a good idea. It wouldn’t alter the path, and it would also spread radioactive fallout over nearby land extremely quickly. Twitter had a few things to say about the situation.

The White House declined to comment on the statements.
