Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Third Phase Of The Odd-Even Rule In Delhi

The Delhi government will re-launch the odd-even scheme to curb traffic and pollution in the capital city from November 4 to November 15.


First implemented in January 2016, the scheme was again re-implemented in April, 2016 by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Now with the new date coming closer, here’s everything you need to know about the odd-even rule, which will be applicable from 8 am to 8 pm only. 

1. Two-wheelers in Delhi will be exempt from the odd-even rule during peak hours. 

Two-wheelers plying in Delhi will be exempted only during the peak hours from 8 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm.

2. Person with disabilities, solo women drivers, cars with all women occupants, women with kids less than 12 years exempt. 

Women, for reasons related to safety and convenience, will largely be exempt from the odd-even scheme.

3. Private CNG vehicles, unlike in 2016, will not be exempt. 

Probably one of the major changes, private CNG vehicles will not be exempted this time during the odd-even scheme.

4. Vehicles coming from outside Delhi will not be exempt.

In addition, cars, two-wheelers and other vehicles from outside the National Capital will not be exempted.

5. Vehicles carrying school children will be exempt from the scheme. 

Any vehicle taking children to and from school will be exempted under the new rule.

6. New Motor Vehicles Act increases the violation fine from ₹2000 to ₹4000.

Not adhering to the odd-even scheme will now draw a fine of ₹4000, double of what it was back in 2016. 


For ease of commuting, cab aggregator Uber will deactivate surge pricing when the odd-even scheme will be rolled out in Delhi.
