There are times when we get an amazing thought but before writing it somewhere it slips from our mind. These annoying situations make us think how cool and handy it would be if we could write just by thinking about something.

Scientists at the University Of California, San Francisco backed by Facebook Reality Labs published a very promising report about a brain-reading computer.

A paper was published by Nature Communications that details the team’s success in predicting words that the test subjects were about to speak.

THINK

The computer was trained on 24 pre-determined questions while the subjects were asked to answer them aloud. The UCSF neurosurgery professor Edward Chang told that the accuracy of their system was 61% to 76%, which is far better than the current systems which have only 7% to 20% accuracy.

NEW ATLAS

While the accuracy of this system is highest till date, we think it’s still far away from replacing a physical keyboard.
