A father-son duo in the Indian Air Force on Saturday created history by flying together the Indian Air Force’s new Mi-17 V5 helicopter, reported The North East Today.
On October 1, Air Vice Marshal Manvendra Singh and his 27-year-old son Flight Lieutenant Siddharth Singh flew the new chopper for this first time in Shillong during the Vajra Fest.
For AVM Manvendra, who has been serving in the IAF for the past 35 years and is currently a Senior Officer in Charge Administration HQ EAC, this was an extremely proud moment.
An Indiatimes report quoted AVM Manavendra as saying that it was a memory that would always be very close to his heart.
Siddharth, who was recruited in the IAF in 2011, also joined the same wing of the air force. The young lieutenant has already represented his unit in several Air Force level exercises.
A Telegraph report quoted Flight Lieutenant Siddharth as saying that they worked as professionals while flying and his father had always been his inspiration.
The wives of both pilots were present a the air show and the pilots were felicitated after the flight.
