The fatwa not just against Rahman and Majid. The Raza Academy believes that every Muslim involved with the project has committed blasphemy and is required to re-recite the Kalma & solemnise their marriages again.

Raza Academy also wrote to the Maharashtra Chief Minister & Home Minister seeking a ban on the film. In the fatwa, they said that no picture of the Prophet should be created or kept. They believe that it is a mockery of Islam and casting non-Muslim actors in key roles adds to it.
